my site is an eCommerce site - in address bar my site shows a gray globe (I have read FAQ's regarding this) - my site has an active SSL certificate which activates when customer goes to checkout (url changes from http to https) - question is how do I have my site verified by Firefox so that a gray padlock appears when site is resolved and not the gray globe - where / how is this done? (site has been verified via Google WMT and Bing WMT)

The concern is that customers may not ' trust' my site and hence I miss out on sales

thanks, Mike

l am using the latest version of Firefox - domain is www.harmonyballpendant.com (in fact I have many other sites with the same status but am using this one as the example)

You need to use HTTPS throughout your entire site in order to have the padlock appear.

Edit: Let me clarify that. For a padlock to appear for a page, everything in that page must have been retrieved using an HTTPS connection.

Dear shags38,

I do agree with jscher2000, Firefox only shows https padlock for webpage where your enable ssl default it will show gray globe.

So you must have to force your ssl for entire website or you may force ssl for two pages one is your homepage and other on checkout pages.

Here is an optional way which i can recommend you

If you don't want to force ssl for homepage or other pages then you can install site seal on your web. This is an option way from there your can gain your customer confidence

READ THIS!!

Finally fixed this problem on my own after countless times of updating Firefox and running my malware/spyware program 100 times with no fix or detection of the problem. Every-time I went to a website i knew was secure and still got a message about other ppl can see what Im doing on my bank account site...I knew something was wrong. I also got pop-ups when my anti-popup feature was checked. So I went to a couple of blogs to find a fix. Some blogs said it was normal.. I didn't buy into that. So I started to go to options in Mozilla and look at me plugins.

    • HERE'S THE FIX**

It was a simple fix go into your add-ons and plug-ins and look for programs that you have not accepted but are showing up as enabled. "Disable" it first then "Remove it" after that restart the browser and the problem is fixed. If you cant remove that "spyware" add-on or plug-in report it to Mozilla.

I hope this helped you; please share with other to help protect all of us!
