I can't get the "View->Messages->Unread" option to stick for newsgroups; it keeps getting reset to "All"
Reading a newsgroup I change settings as indicated in subject and get only unread messages displayed. After reading messages I close T-bird; when I re-open the setting has again been changed from Unread to All.

can you turn off the message pane (F8) between restarts? I am guessing it will turn on again as well.
