FF29: How can I stop the Print button from opening print preview in a new window?
When I click the Print button it opens the print preview in a new window. In FF28 when I clicked the print button it opened the print dialog box. How can I stop Firefox from opening the print preview and just open the print dialog box?

The Print button on the menu is hard-wired to Print Preview.
Without an add-on, you can call up the Print dialog using either:
- Ctrl+p
- classic menu bar: File menu > Print
There might be a way to change the actual button, but I haven't seen anyone mention that yet. (I can tell you the old Print/Print Preview extension does not do it.)
Why did this get changed? Firefox doesn't even off a one-click print to default printer, and now forces us through another step. Was this seen as an improvements by lengthening the procedure?
There is a Bug report filed on that change, and IMO it is going to have to be changed back because it currently prevents printing a selection unless the user uses {Ctrl + P} or File > Print.
You can look at this extension:
- Universal Print: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/universal-print/
I appreciate the suggestion, but it seems every time there is a problem with an updated version of FF, someone has an extension to fix it. For those of us who are picky about installing extensions, it seems counterintuitive to add an extension to remove an unwanted "feature" that should be a preference.
You can access the Print dialog via the File menu.
- Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu bar.
If I wanted FireFox to work like Google Chrome then I would just use Google Chrome PUT THE PRINT BUTTON BACK AS IT WAS. PLEASE
Hi EZorb, this forum is for helping users with the Firefox we have now.

I guess I miss something here, an outcry to change the Print Button to a Print Preview button. Would someone tell us how many people requested this most necessary change.
I don't have that kind of data. You could check with the user experience people:
