have reset Firefox; uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing works. Only way to get to bookmarks is cumbersome, many steps and slow. To do that, I have to pull down Bookmarks menu, Show All Bookmarks, go to 3 bars, reset bookmarks, wait, wait, wait, bookmarks come back but gone next time I close Firefox and reopen bookmarks gone.

The fix you suggest only covers up to Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) I have 10.7.5 installed which is Lion.
