When Google discontinued the i-Google desktop I started using a similar product from ighome.com. This is ok but prone to failure when i remove unwanted webpages /other browsers etc. Does Firefox have customisable desktop similar to the defunct iGoogle?

Firefox does not have a built-in page as customizable as iGoogle (with gadgets, etc.), and Mozilla doesn't have a similar site.

There are, of course, numerous other service providers and add-on to consider. If you search the web for iGoogle replacements or related terms, I'm sure you can find many reviews and suggestions.
