On a couple of reliable websites I have received similar messages when clicking a link:

LIKE THIS (http)

Invalid Referrer detected - This means that your web browser is not sending the "Referrer URL" which is required to proceed with the redirect. Verify your browser settings and add-ons, to check why your browser is not sending this referrer.

AND (https)

Cannot GET /gb/merchantsignup/applicationChecklist?signupType=CREATE_NEW_ACCOUNT&productIntentId=wp_standard

I updated Firefox to the latest version but the problem remains.

You can check out on the browserspy website how websites see you:

Make sure that an extension or other software on the computer isn't modifying the user agent.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
