I am accessing an external SDL workbench using the Firefox browser. Up until May there was no problem. It appears the 38.0.1 upgrade I recently installed in my Mac is not compatible, so I do not have full functionality to enter segments - the fields are greyed out on the SDL workbench. The company has entered at their end and had no problem to get into the segments , so it looks like the latest Firefox browser isn't compatible.

I tried to download the old 10 ESR but it appears risky and didn't go ahead. Is there any safe way of downloading a Firefox 10 ESR version?

Hello, if you are willing to download an old version please see this: Install an older version of Firefox But using old versions will give you security threat.

If you have to use an old firefox version, use one newer than firefox 10. Since firefox 37 worked, you should go back to that instead.

Thanks for your response. I certainly will stay clear of version 10 and go for a more recent version that is not the latest, as most people on this forum have advised. Thanks.

There are other things which would be useful, good practice, and increase safety. Use ESR as an additional Firefox browser with its own profile, and separate location (and able to run simultaneously with your standard day to day Firefox Release).

Note the ESR point releases have the major security fixes from standard releases. Currently ESR is 31.7 If you need to use ESR use the latest compatible point release. If 31.7 does not work try 31.6 Look at this From https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/faq/ with full size image

Windows users may make use of Firefox portable as an additional browser, but that is not available for Mac s.

Whatever you install as an additional browser should be just that. In addition to your standard Firefox Release, and for use only on the problem site or work. Use a custom install to give it its own location, and use the profile manager to create an additional Firefox Profile as it must have its own profile for both Firefox installs to work reliably. Follow the instructions in

  1. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions#Installing_multiple_versions
  2. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_multiple_profiles_-_Firefox
  3. Note also the use of -no-remote but only on the launcher of the additional Firefox version NOT the one used as the default browser. as mentioned in the 2nd linked article and
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Opening_a_new_instance_of_Firefox_with_another_profile
That allows you to run both versions simultaneously, resources permitting.
