i am getting error message saying I have sent limit of e mails and have sent none.

I have been unable to send e mails this past few days from this account as I get the error message that I have sent over the allotted 250 messages. My sent box shows none sent. Has someone hacked my account and sending e mails that don't show up in my sent box?
