I'm trying to restore tabs prior to a crash
I have the .js file that was supposed to boot up following my crash, however, it never did. I quickly copied and saved it to numerous places on my desktop to ensure it doesn't get lost or rewritten by firefox. I tried renaming it "recovery.js" and "sessionstore.js" while also taking out the other (new and invalid) restore .js files in there. However, even leaving the original backup that didn't open, and only it as the "restore.js" or as a "sessionstore.js" doesn't help. I open up forefox and it still only opens up my homepage without inquiring into restoring tabs. Again, I am positive that I have left the original restore file and only it in the folder. (I know it is the right one because it is monstrously long and I eye'd it and found some of the tabs I had. I'm on osx and don't know what else to do. Every poster with a similar problem says this is the solution, but it is simply not working for me. Is there anything else I can try? Is there something else I am missing? Thank you.
EDIT:
Now this is particularly peculiar. I finally got the application to restore. Again, the only one file in the folder is the original file with all ~40 tabs. It is named "restore.js" however. When the "this is embarrassing" restore window arose, it asked if i wanted to restore the two tabs that were open when I crashed firefox to replace the restore file. I looked in the folder and as I left it, the only file in there is the original .js with the ~40 tabs.
This has officially been catapulted to the point of making absolutely no sense.

I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.
In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.
Thanks for the quick reply, however, I'm sorry, but copy what exactly? Just the crash ID? the raw dump? The metadata?
Follow the instructions above.

That was good. But, Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.

Remove Silverlight. Is the problem gone? After, install the current program.
I'm not sure what you did. You need to copy restore.js from the sessionstore-backups folder to the main profile folder as sessionstore.js to replace this file.
You will normally find these files in the sessionstore-backups folder:
previous.js (cleanBackup: copy of sessionstore.js from previous session that was loaded successfully) recovery.js (latest version of the sessionstore written during runtime) recovery.bak (previous version of the sessionstore written during runtime) upgrade.js-<build_id> (backup created during an upgrade of Firefox)
You can copy a file from the sessionstore-backups folder to the main profile and rename the file to sessionstore.js to replace the current file (make a backup copy of the current sessionstore.js).
