I found some discussion around this bug report. Sounds like it may be the same or a similar issue: Bug 1125325 - Web content is not rescaled when OS X moves browser window from HiDPI laptop display to external display.

The current Firefox tab displays fine on the laptop, but the window on the external monitor only shows content in the upper left quarter of the window. The remaining space on the tab is white (no content). Switching to other tabs shows the same, limited content and white space. Refreshing the tab spins for a bit, then displays all content. This is not an acceptable workaround.

What's the fix?

Thanks! Erin

You may have a corrupt xulstore.json file.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the xulstore.json file.. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

Thanks. I'll test again tomorrow, but it looks like that did the trick. Thanks!

You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
