I want Firefox to stop saving my Facebook login. It keeps showing up and auto logging in under "saved logins". I have unchecked save passwords and unchecked save forms. Help!

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie, so make sure that you do not have a checkmark on the login form to remember you.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

  • You can create a cookie" "Allow" exception to keep specific cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

You can remove the cookies from a website to make the website forget about you.

No good. Facebook removed the checkbox for "keep me logged in". If I clear my browser history every time I exit I have to re-authenticate websites such as online banking. I also need to use my cell phone to approve a new computer to log back into Facebook if I do this. Under Privacy I set it so the browser would only accept cookies until it was closed and it wouldn't accept third party cookies but I'm still being let right into my Facebook account.

Why can't I just have it so I have to type my Password in but it remembers my email like it used to!?

Removing the Cookies from a website to make the website forget about you if you have saved a remember be cookie.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing cookies will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an Allow exception you may want to keep

You can instead let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies.

Since no one can help me here it must be a Facebook issue. I clearly do not want to delete all cookies d/t computer authentication issues. I just want Facebook to make me reenter my password after closing the browser and opening it up.

Are you closing the tabs with all Facebook pages before closing Firefox?

Firefox stores cookies used in tabs that are currently open in the sessionstore.js file as part of saved session data, so those cookies will be restored if Firefox is closed without first closing these tabs.

You can set browser.sessionstore.privacy_level to 2 (never) or 1 (non-HTTPS) on the about:config page to disable saving cookies via session restore in the sessionstore.js file. The browser.sessionstore.privacy_level_deferred pref is used when you do not reopen the previous session automatically via "Show my windows and tabs from last time" and uses the same values.

I had already done that. I set my restore tabs to 1 and made sure to open and close multiple sites in different tabs and after closing Facebook still lets me right in. No passwords needed. I even tried uninstalling and disconnecting sync with no luck. I'm really thinking it's a Facebook thing.

Facebook can't store a user name and password to the Firefox Password Manager. You can only do that by clicking the remember button in the doorhanger that opens from the Key icon at the left end of the location/address bar. The only thing that a website can do is to create a special 'remember me' cookie. If you do not have an allow exception for that website then such a cookie would normally expire at the end of the session unless you keep a tab open and the cookies are saved in sessionstore.js as part of the session data.

Of course it's a Facebook issue and you agreed to it when you signed up/sold them your soul.

That said, try installing the add-on "Self-Destructing Cookies". It will allow you to automatically delete cookies once you leave a website, but you can fill out a 'white list' for all the sites you want to keep recognizing your computer.
