On FF request I updated quicktime to 7.7.9. The custom install program did not allow any of the optional add-ons such as the browser plugin. FF now does not show the plugin and won't run the test files on the Apple site. I checked existing help answers which said to add the plugin via the 'Modify' option in the installer. Trying this shows that section of the instal options with red X's: ie not available. NB OS is Vista 32bit FF is 46.0.1 Help!

hi, the quicktime plugin for windows is no longer supported by apple with updates but contains critical security vulnerabilities that are actively exploited on the web. so it is probably in your best interest anyway that it is no longer installed. http://blog.trendmicro.com/urgent-call-action-uninstall-quicktime-windows-today/

Thanks: a helpful article. I don't really need QT in Firefox, but will keep the prog for now: needed for a number of old .mov files. I quess that with no plugin and if it is not allowed access to the web it's fairly safe!???! Perhaps Mozilla needs to modify the help instructions for downloading the plugin update at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/quicktime-plugin-play-audio-and-video. Also maybe a link to that Trendmicro article?
