Why does the vertical pane position not save?

I had a 'blue screen of death' the other day. Windows 10 recovered ok but since then, when I position the vertical pane to where I like it, the next time I start Thunderbird it is back in the centre of the screen. My layout is folders on the left and on the right is messages at the top and content at the bottom-right. When I reposition the horizontal pane, Thunderbird happily saves it. Everything else in Windows and Thunderbird seems to working fine. So why does Thunderbird save the position of the horizontal pane and not the vertical pane?

Thunderbird 52.2.1 (32-bit)

Thank you Zenos. I tried both methods but unfortunately no luck. But I kept tinkering and found it was one of my Add-ons. Custom Address Sidebar is the culprit. I think it isn't completely compatible with version 52.2.1 and forces the left pane to expand across the screen.

It's sorted now anyway. Thanks for the direction of attack.

Obviously no one has anything to suggest about this. Disappointing.

How about this... Is there a file I can delete which will reset the layout of Thunderbird? I'm wondering if the file has become corrupted.

There may be a file you can delete, but I'd go about it in a different way.

Restart Thunderbird in its Safe Mode and select the option to reset toolbars.

I suspect the file to delete is xulstore.json but that's a guess. I'd recommend you move or rename it rather then deleting it outright.
