Every time I use "Open Link in New Tab," the browser goes into a stall, even on tiny pages.

I cannot open any pages without this crashing now. Even tiny pages go into a stall and take 20 seconds to load. This is program is impossible to use now.

Happening ever since 57.0 update installed. Most apparent when trying to open in new tab, but also sometimes when clicking bookmark. Goes into Not Responding and I cannot even navigate in the tab I'm already in. Cannot use this program like this,

This is unbelievable. Takes 20-30 seconds to open a web page now, and I cannot even work in one tab while the other opens. Made my work day three hours longer today. Thanks for the "upgrade," Mozilla.

Tomorrow I set up Chrome and leave this garbage behind.

Today Firefox updated itself again, and again I cannot open pages without going into a stall. If I try to use Open in New Tab, I guarantee at least a 20 second stall.

Don't know why I'm even coming back here. Got no responses last time this was happening.

Is there any way to keep this pos program from updating and ruining itself every few weeks?

Please consider when posting to turn Send Info to Mozilla on from within Firefox. Also consider asking before getting worked up.

" Got no responses last time this was happening."

It shows this is the 1st time you have ever asked a Question. Answers are not relevant as are not a question, you have 4.

So you got updated, but did not say which update or version you are at now. Providing information is the best way for solutions as then there is no guessing involved.

The update 57.0.1 had a fix for the issue in it. Included in 57.0.2 Please update to 57.0.2 if you are not : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version

So gather low ram is the issue. Due to Multiprocessor I am guessing. You could try this please : Go the Menu then Tools --> Options --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 0 = No Multi-processor = slow again. TRY 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

fyi: Each Extension you use uses give or take 20megs each.

Update Video Card Drivers.

If Firefox 57+ is to0 much for your System please consider moving to the Extended Release Version 52.4.0 It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Tried changing the Performance but still stalling on every load. The day I wrote the first post, there were hundreds of people complaining about issues with the same update, so I didn't think I needed to say it was 57.0. Also, it was doing this on both my computers, so it seemed like a problem on your end, not mine.

The next day I set up Chrome, which works fine. I have an extensive bookmark tree on Firefox that will not transfer easily, so I started using the two in conjunction. After a few days, FF started working again (perhaps 57.0.1 loaded?). Then yesterday a new update and back to not being able to load pages.

To cor-el, no crash report is generated that I see. It just goes into "(Not Responding)" for 20-30 seconds. Every time, on both my machines.

Correct the 57.0.1 fixed it. Did not have the information that it was still 57.0 or could have supplied the fix before it came out in the update. 57.0.2 fixed Profile Issues and not much, else had nothing in it that would have slowed your Computer.

If this is a old system with limited ram and still having issues my previous post still holds true : You could try this please : Go the Menu then Tools --> Options --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 0 = No Multi-processor = slow again. TRY 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

fyi: Each Extension you use uses give or take 20megs each.

Update Video Card Drivers.

Reboot daily.

Everything here still holds for 8.1 : https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/15055/windows-7-optimize-windows-better-performance

Note : the last one on the list Virtual ..... The greyed out numbers are what you put in both places min-max after ticking to change it
