If you type about:profiles
in your Firefox address bar, how many profiles does Firefox list?
Is there an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop?
it show 2 profiles, a root profile and a local profile.. and there is no old firefox data folder on my desktop. HELP?
If you press the Launch profile in a new browser button on the about:profiles
page, do you have your bookmarks?
well, there is no 'launch profile in new browser' option, that is, unless I create a new profile and then launch it.. but when doing that there still is no bookmark retrieval.
Hi thelissa, if the above doesn't help, could you try doing a normal Windows shut down and restart, to clear any file locks and complete any pending updates?
Next, could you cross check the Library window (Ctrl+Shift+b or "Show All Bookmarks"). Normally, the "Other Bookmarks" list is shown first. You can click Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Toolbar in the left column to see whether the bookmarks you don't see within Firefox are still listed in the Library. What do you find?
I did a restart already.. nothing changed.. The only bookmarks I see are the new bookmarks that I have just added.
Press Windows Key + R and enter in the following:
%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
How many folders are there?
Okay, could you look at the Restore menu in the Library? Firefox creates approximately daily bookmark backups so there is a good chance you could restore an earlier set using this feature. It will wipe out the new ones, so to preserve those, please add the optional steps.
(1) [Optional] Export current bookmarks to an HTML file. See: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks
(2) Restore a backup. See: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
(3) [Optional] Import the file you created in the first step. See: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file -- these may need to be moved from an "Imported Bookmarks" folder on the Bookmarks Menu to more useful locations, but you'll know if that happens.
What if there are no backups listed, or it just has the basic 19 items?
We'll have to guide you to look for old Firefox data on your hard drive. In particular, look for a folder named Old Firefox Data on your Windows desktop.
There are 2 folders listed in the appdata folder.
