I can't sign in on youtube in non-private browsing but can in private, how do I correct this?

When I got the last 2 or 3 updates of firefox, there were some websites I could not fully access. One of them is accounts google which also means not my youtube account either. All this in non-private browsing. I tried disabling all extensions, I tried in safe mode, and nothing changed. Also some other methods which did not work. And when I get to accounts google to sign in, I click on the next button and nothing happens. So, I tried private browsing and was able to sign-in to youtube and accounts google. I've tried all types of combinations on my content blocking but to no good result. I need a solution, please.

One of the main differences when you access a site in a private window is that none of the site's cached files or cookies are used; everything is retrieved and set from scratch. With that in mind:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "Clear Cookies and Site Data"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "Clear Cookies and Site Data"

In the dialog that opens, you will see one or more matches to the current address so you can remove the site's cookies individually without affecting other sites.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Note: Because Google Accounts are involved in YouTube logins, and vice versa, you might also need to clear Google cookies (you can use a search page to access the list).

I tried this once before and I tried this just now. It did not work. I still can not sign in onto youtube.

That usually works. Here are two other thoughts:

(1) There may be some other stored data you could delete. While on YouTube, press Shift+F9 to open the "Storage Inspector" panel in the lower part of the tab.

Check each category of data for YouTube data and consider removing it. Then reload the page bypassing the cache (Ctrl+Shift+r or Shift+click the reload arrow in the toolbar).

(2) Check that your cookie settings are not too restrictive. The following article reviews the settings:

Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them

I have cleared all cache for youtube and google. Doesn't help. I tried content blocking at standard & custom with blocking and not blocking cookies and trackers and still no sign-in. The problem is not just google; for example, I can not get anything but a blue background on the www.dcuniverse.com website if I access it with non-private browsing but I fully get the page in private window. Maybe this will help clarify.
