I successfully connected my gSuite account to Thunderbird.

I downloaded an .mbox file from a different gSuite account.

I successfully imported the .mbox into the account, and I can see all those new emails in my inbox, in Thunderbird.

When I login to Gmail however, those new emails don't appear to be uploading from Thunderbird to the server.

I have imap enabled, and configured according to the instructions from Gmail. It immediately downloaded all emails from the server to my Thunderbird, but it's not uploading the new emails from Thunderbird to the server.

am I just being impatient? Is there a way I can force it to sync with the server? Everything I'm reading seems to focus on downloading from the server to thunderbird but I need to upload from Thunderbird to the server.

How many messages are you trying to upload? Gmail has bandwidth limits, plus uploading large numbers of messages is not really feasible with IMAP. The usual method is to import an mbox to Local Folders, then copy messages in small batches to an IMAP folder.

"How many messages are you trying to upload?"

About 200

"The usual method is to import an mbox to Local Folders, then copy messages in small batches to an IMAP folder"

That's exactly how I did it

Can't see why there's a problem, unless there's some external factor, such as a VPN, which often cause failures to send or upload on IMAP.

Actually I think it worked, it was just organizing them differently and I couldn't tell.

Gmail says I have 278 conversations, and Thunderbird says I have 281 which is so close that I think it worked just fine.
