When I search Google from the address / search bar in Firefox Android, the progress bar goes to about 30% and stops for a long time before loading the page.

Worse, every page I click in the search results behaves the same way.

Same behavior just opening www.google.com.

Other sites load fine, just anything that starts with a Google URL is severely hobbled.

Same on mobile and Wi-Fi. Desktop PC on same Wi-Fi network is not affected.

Hi

Do you have any add-ons installed?

What level of enhanced tracking protection do you have set?

Are you signed into a Google Account when this happens?

more options

No add-ons. I've triple checked, and I re-installed fresh a couple weeks ago trying to troubleshoot this. No change.

I've tried enhanced tracking off and on. No change.

I am signed into a Google account at the browsing level and OS level but obviously not at the browser level, as that would need a Firefox account.

Oddly the problem went away (presumably temporarily) after I posted to the forum!

more options

Ok, no problem.

Keep an eye on it for the next few days and come back to this thread if there is a problem.

There is a Firefox for Android update (version 92) rolling out at the moment, so please make sure you update.

This is still happening. I seemed to have a brief window where everything was OK then it went right back to the original behavior.

more options

Ok. Do you have any other apps that you have installed on your device? Any anti virus or security type apps?

more options

No security apps, no. And Chrome does not seem to be affected by this so to me it seems like a Firefox bug.

Hi

Please can you get a log of what is happening further to the guide under "Using adb logcat to get crash information" at https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/wiki/Logging-Crash-Information

more options

I'm confused. I'm not seeing a crash. Just major performance problems actually getting to web pages when Google URLs are involved.

Hi

That same logging (but visiting Google instead of recreating a crash) may help us to establish what is going on in your copy of Firefox for Android.

Version 92 has hit my phone now and I haven't seen the issue today ... will keep an eye on it. I did get adb set up as well so I'll be ready to collect logs if it recurs. To be clear, you want me to just reproduce the problem and dump the whole adb log here?

more options

Not here, but a GitHub Gist as per the instructions.

Hold fire on doing anything at the moment, let us see what happens with the update to 92.
