I have been using Firefox for years and have always used Gmail as my default email account. Suddenly I can no longer open a mailto link - just on one of my several PCs. I go to settings and there is no option for Gmail or anything else. I tried copying the link from one of my other computers but there is nowhere to Paste that. Weird...

We have seen more reports where a fresh handlers.json file didn't restore Gmail as a possible mailto choice.

You can try to copy handlers.json from a profile folder that still has Gmail to your current profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).

Interesting. It turns out that there were nine versions of that file with the suffix "corrupt" in that folder dating back to 2021, as well as one without the suffix. I deleted them all. Fortunately one of my other PCs shares the same keyboard and I have a net drive. So I was able to do a copy/paste in less than a minute and solved the problem. At least for now. Thank you so much for your incredibly quick response.
