Since the last updates, all my tabs appear on multiple rows. How do I get this back to 1 row. And why can't I find anything about this searching help/the internet with such a big change ?

Hi

Tabs should only appear on one row by default - have you previously made any custom changes to Firefox?

If so, it would have been years ago. How do you make those changes - I'll see if they are there.

If you open your profile folder (type about:profiles into the address bar and open folder for the profile in use) and look in the "chrome" folder for a file called userChrome.css.

Please appreciate that these kinds of modifications are not officially supported and as a result may break with future updates.

If that file is not there, or removing the file does not make any difference, it would help if you could screenshot the multiple rows of tabs and attach the file to a reply to this thread so that we can better understand what you are seeing.

Yes, that fixed it thanks - from 2017 !

Can you attach a screenshot?

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
