When I search using ask.com, I am now redirected to google-analytics.com and never get there - this is a sudden problem - what happened?
All of a sudden, using ask.com doesn't work. I am redirected to google-analytics.com and the site never locks in. It doesn't happen using IE, and didn't happen last week.

Try clearing the browser cache, as well as ask.com and google cookies. Then, try the site again.
