How to recover last session's tabs closed from my main FF window, which was accidentally closed before another FF window

Hi, I closed my main FF windows [with ~100 tabs]. There should be no issue there, that's a regular action. However, just afterward another FF windows reappeared. It seems Windows don't show some windows until, maybe, some memory gets available [only hypothesis]. Anyway, now I opened back FF to search for the lost ~100 tabs, but no success :

  • The option open previous tab and windows closed from last session opened the tab from the second FF window, closed afterwards
  • I looked in the history, but it seems tabs were opened since too long to be still in history (more than 6 months).

Is there anyway of finding those ~100 tabs that were closed ? I was regularly reading them, but not making any change (just selection and copying).

As long as I can I'll keep this FF session opened, if there is still any chance to find these tabs back. Isn't there ?

Did you check History > Recently Closed Windows? If you (can) have multiple windows open then you should make it a habit to use File > Exit instead of using the close X on the title bar to make sure that you close all open windows at once.

Hi cor-el,

Yep I did check recently closed tabs, but it does not appear there as I did not closed the tabs independently, just the firefox windows.

From now on I'll make sure I take on the habit of closing only with File > Exit. Although it still help on this particular issue, it does help preventing next time's.

I'll be still looking for more data, but I am out of ideas from now

Hi,

I too have the same problem. Especially when firefox crashes.

Also when installing some softwares which prompt for closing firefox (sometimes automatically close it) and then open a new window after installation. Eventually

loosing all my previous tabs.

I have xmarks installed but its of no use in this case.. :(

This makes me so mad when I do it because I always have a million tabs open. That is why the Tab Mix Plus extension is absolutely essential for me. It automatically closes all windows and merges all windows into one but you must make sure the options are enabled for it to work or it will do the same thing.

The only way I've found to recover from this is by going through the history one-by-one. It sucks. I would love to hear about an easier way though..

Maybe Mozilla could think about an option to recover/merge all open windows like TMP does? Also, a warning when closing one Window, asking whether we want to close the others would be helpful, even if it doesn't solve the crash problem.
