Images on facebook randomly will either open, half open, or do not open at all. This only happens when I am in facebook. My computer is Windows 7 - 64bit

When I try to look at my pictures or friends pictures, the pictures will do various things. They will either load, load half way, or not load at all leaving a black space where the picture should be.

I am running a newer computer with Windows 7. This is a 64 bit computer. I used to be able to load pictures on facebook easily and with no problem, but for the past couple of months I have been having the above problem. I subscribe to photography websites and they load easily and they are much bigger files, so this has to be a problem with FF and FB.

This happened ... when ever I visit FB and try to look at pictures. My answer isn't one of the options given below.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
See:

Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions
Check the exceptions in Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:

  • Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
  • Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
  • Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block images.

Nope, none of those things. Like I said ... some pictures show up, and some don't. Some show up half way. They wouldn't show up at all if I had them blocked.

I checked the extensions and add ons, but that wasn't the problem either.

This seems to be the answer you give everyone with an image viewing problem. Are these all automated answers, or is there a real person here? I appreciate the help, but I would really like to get this issue fixed so would prefer to talk with a live person.

I am including a picture of an image that is half way loaded so you can see what I am talking about. Thank you

I'm having the EXACT same problem and can't find an answer. I used to think it was Mozilla, but I'm using Google Chrome now and have the same issue.

Did you find an answer to your/my problem yet?

Did you check your security software (firewall/anti-virus)?

Some have enhanced features and can block images.

tcfuller - no, did not find an answer to my question. It only happens in facebook though.

cor-el - It's not my firewal/anti-virus, but thanks for the suggestion. My images are not being blocked. Some of them actually open. Some open half way. Some do not open at all.

Such issues can still be caused by security software that is inspecting images and takes too much time.

You can also try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the Safe mode start window.

I have the exact same problem with Mozilla and Chrome. Running Windows 7 too. It has to be a glitch with Facebook, it happens so often that I rarely even bother looking at photos anymore.
