I have had a umber of requests to update Firefox. When I have tried at various times, the "connecting to the update server" window runs indefinitely.

I have A MacBook Pro. I have had repeated requests/warnings to update. When I try a widow appears saying: "Downloading Firefox" then below is a bar with moving diagonal blue stripes and a pause sign on the right end and below says "contacting to the update server..." This has run for many minutes on a number of occasions but nothing else happens. Currently I am running Firefox 6.0.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 2,6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Memory 4 GB MHz DDR3

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded
