Can't add new tags to a bookmark

I have a humongous collection of bookmarks spanning the last 3 years or so. I tag every bookmark, but I don't use tags the way they generally are used--I don't have a limited number of tags. I add tags as descriptors so I can search from the AwesomeBar.

However, today, I can't seem to add any new tags to my bookmarks. As soon as I start typing them, if Fx doesn't find a tag already in the system, it deletes what I'm typing.

Is there a limit on the number of tags you can have?
