I noticed flash wasn't working on the Daily Show website, but it is on other sites. So I did a complete uninstall and clean install of Flash, no change. Reset all the FF settings to default, no change. Changed the hardware acceleration setting in Flash in FF, no change. Then I tried the site on IE (boo!) and it works just fine.

I have the current Flash version and I've tried all the usual suspects. Why is this not working on this particular site?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Clear Firefox's Cache (if you used Reset, you should already have a clean cache)

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

2. Delete the site's cookies

While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

You might also consider disabling the new protected mode in Flash 11.3, since that feature is currently being debugged. See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?

Disabling the protected mode did the trick, I clear all my cache and cookies every day. Thank you for suggesting that.
