My macbook won't open hotmail. It works on all other websites apart from hotmail. I have tried using safari to open it but it still didn't work. It comes up with the message 'Server not Found'. I have tried another computer in the house and it worked absolutely fine. I have cleared cookies and cache on the macbook which has not changed anything. Please help as this is rather an annoying situation to be in. Thankyou

Are you using a bookmark or do you enter the website via the main entry (i.e. a link on the MSN page)?

In the case of a bookmark, you may need to delete this bookmark and create a new bookmark.

Is this also happening with the Windows Live (Outlook) login page:

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

i have tried all the things that have been suggested, and still not managing to get anywhere. Sadly the about:support didn't change anything and it is still not working. When logging in with https://mail.live.com and https://login.live.com it gets to the normal page where i put my log in detail in but then after logging in it takes me too a Microsoft account page, and from there i can't get to my inbox. Any ideas?

Please try with below steps. It might be a DNS flushing prob

DNS Prefetching

DNS Prefetching is a technique Firefox uses to speed up loading new websites. To disable DNS Prefetching:

1) In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. 2) The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page. 3) Right-click in the list of preferences, select New, and then select Boolean. 4) In the Enter the preference name window, enter network.dns.disablePrefetch and click OK. 5) Select true when prompted to set the value and click OK.

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
