I have a problem with performance on my PC. Answers to these two questions will help me resolve my issues. Q1: Can someone kindly explain what condition causes a grey wait circle to rotate anti-clockwise at the left of a tab when seeking a new page. Q2: And then the wait symbol becomes a green circle rotating clockwise; what does this refer to.

My guess is anti-clockwise is to do with address resolution and clockwise is to do with page downloading. Am I correct?

Response from a more knowledeable person than I would be much appreciated so that I can then start to sort out my speed problem.

Anti clockwise means that Firefox is trying connect to the server.
Once a connection is established and loading data starts then the rotation changes to clockwise (green).
If it stays in anti-clockwise mode then you have a connection issue.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Many thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I still have long waiting times. Perhaps my PC is playing up. Cheers
