I updated Firefox and now there is no place to input SEARCHes on my address bar & I can't find any way to get it back

I just updated Firefox only because I got an email saying my version would no longer be supported. EVERY TIME I update something goes wrong. This time the SEARCH field on my address bar disappeared--I can't do searches. HOW DO I FIX THIS? ALways next to the address was a place for inputting searches--WHY would you disappear this? Also WHY is the pointer so large I can't read text underneath when I roll over icons?
