when saving files under options the file name is duplicated how to remove extra folder with the same name
Under Firefox Options I clicked Saving Files under Downloads but the file name appears twice and an extra folder with the same name is created within the folder i.e.:
G:\Akbar's Songs\HAMARA FORUMS DOWNLOADS\HAMARA FORUMS DOWNLOADS
As you can see the folder is repeated, how can I correct this?
Also the music files I download from a site downloads as WinRar file and I need to open it. Is there an option where the files open automatically in the folder I have selected?
Many thanks for your help.

Hi Akush, when you install 7-zip, it should make itself the default application to open .zip and .rar files. So if you double-click the .rar file, it should open up in 7-zip. If you prefer to decompress it immediately, right-click the file and look for the new 7-zip items on the menu. I can't think of a way to do this all automatically, however.

When you use the "Web page, complete" option for saving the file, all of the related bits and pieces such as images and style sheets are stored in that folder. If you don't want those extra pieces:
- You can choose the "Web page, HTML only" option, but this may not display correctly.
- To combine everything into a single file, you can use an add-on or create a PDF. For example:
Does that make sense?
A RAR file is a compressed file type that you can open with WinRAR or many other programs. Here's a free, open-source one to consider:
After re-reading your question, I just want to clarify the difference between saving the page and saving the file attached to a specific link.
- Save Page will grab the page content
- right-clicking a link and using Save Link as... should download only the linked file
Not sure which makes more sense for your forum.
Thank you very much for your reply. I am not very good with computer technical matters so I need your help. I like the seven zip program but I don't know how to use it. The songs I download are either in WinRar or WinZip format when they are downloaded in my folder. So how can I use this program to help me decompress them automatically in my folder. You seem to be an expert in the computer field. Would you be able to guide me through?
Thank you so much for your help.

I am sorry as I was downloading 7-Zip I wasn't sure which version to use. I have a Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop with a 32-bit operating system. My apologies for bothering you again.
Many many thanks.
The "beta" version is for testing and may be more prone to problems, so I suggest trying the regular version (9.20) even though it hasn't been updated since 2010.
