Video playback not working
I can't play embedded html5 videos anymore. The problem started in version 35. I can hear the audio but there's no video. The videos from the help page don't work for example.

I've started using Firefox v36.0 and am also having the same problem - videos playing audio only but no visual. I've had no issues in other browers like Dolphin/Chrome/Opera.
In about:config when I toggle 'media.fragmented-mp4.enabled' to 'False' the videos play as they should [with both audio & visual] but there is a translucent green stripe going across the top third of the video.
I've tried other suggestions here but they don't seem to work.
Here are some videos I've tried to watch:

HI , I was able to load the mentioned videos and html video player on a Galaxy Note 4 with kitkat.
What versions of Android and devices are affected here?
I'm using Android 4.2.2 on an S3 Mini GT-i8200
I am on 4.2 also.
I'd like to add flash has never worked for me, causes Firefox to crash. Html5 video used to work before version 35. I wouldn't mind if Firefox opens videos in the video player instead of trying to play it inline.
oh, changing this pref and disabling plugins in the settings made youtube embedded videos work now. But the videos in your links still don't work, must be a codec issue.

When I load this page the only video I can play correctly is the VP9/WEBM video. All the H.264/MP4 videos will only play the audio with no picture.
Hi There has been a parallel thread regarding problems with HTML5 video, which maybe of interest. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1049529
Although the symptoms are slightly different, I think the underlying cause maybe the same?

has got YouTube video working without the green stripe (thanks), but again, not embedded video.
Further discussion here Reddit supports the supposition that there is a problem with v36. I too hope it gets fixed soon.

Have just updated to version 37.0 and this problem is still occurring. Does anyone know if there are any fixes in the pipeline?

The toggle you mentioned worked for me without the green stripe. So far everything looks normal again. *keeping fingers crossed*

This worked for me (without the green stripe) until very recently. Now some video will not run at all with this fix implemented. I just get a message saying "Your browser does not currently recognise any of the video formats available". When I look for more details, it reports that my browser will only support: HTMLVideoElement and WEBM VP8. It will not support: H.264, Media Source Extensions, or M.S.E & H.264, or M.S.E & WEBM VP9.
