Facebook videos on Firefox: "Video Unavailable"
Hi, I'm using Mozilla Firefox on Windows 8.1, with Adobe Flash Player, and I keep getting an error while loading a video: "Video Unavailable We are having trouble playing this video. Learn More"
This happens only on Facebook. On YouTube the videos are loading fine. I tried every single solution Adobe and Mozilla are offering in both of their help centers, but nothing helps, the videos simply doesn't load on Mozilla Firefox. (On chrome and IE the videos are loading fine). This happens on both of my computers, one is a brand new Laptop with good hardware, and the other is an older PC. Everything is completely updated: Windows, Firefox, and Flash player. And this issue also happens when I open Firefox in Safe-Mode (without add-ons or extensions enabled), so it's not Ad Blocker's fault.
Solutions I've tried without success:

https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/no-video-display-flash-player.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/common-problems-flash-player.html
and more...
Thanks in advanced :)

After I checked, this problem also happens with Twitter videos, it says "The media could not be played." It means it's probably not Facebook's fault. So that leaves us with Mozilla Firefox or Adobe Flash. On Facebook's help center they say it's probably Adobe Flash problem: https://www.facebook.com/help/www/396404120401278
so I opened a thread on Adobe help center too: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1887020
Nothing that helps so far. They doesn't think Facebook videos use Flash Player at all.
Please help =\

You need to update your Flash plugin
Please, as I mentioned above, I have all the components fully updated, and also I've tried every solution mentioned in the links I attached, so of-course I checked I have the last version of flash player, that's the first thing I did.
hi ariel.levin, there has been a bug filed for this issue at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1178921 - you'll find three attached video files there. would you be able to test if you can play-back those & report back which ones you can and which not?
thank you very much!

Hi philipp, thanks for your answer, I tried to watch the 3 videos, and all of them showed me a black square with an error, I wanted to "print screen" it, but then there was Firefox 39.0 update, and now when I press those videos it just ask me where to save them, can't watch them on Firefox.
do you use any external codec packs like mentioned in that bug report? - for a possible solution also see comment 37 in the report: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1178921#c37

Man, you are a bloody genius! I scanned all over the internet and support centers and no one could help. Yes, I had K-lite codec pack installed, removed it, and now it works. I would never figure that out. Is there a recommended codec pack that won't cause that problem? Thanks!!!

Hi I'm having the same problem and the codec solution did not work for me. I am able to view the three attached videos on this link, could you provide any insight?

Do you also use windows 8.1? Are you the only one using this computer? Perhaps someone else installed a Codec pack for you? Did you try first looking on Windows Programs and Features for installed codec pack? Try to search "codec" in the search bar to see if something fits

I am using Windows 8 and am the only one using this computer. I searched for codecs and found nothing.

In the link philipp gave there is a comment by "Lee", saying he also never installed codec pack and experiencing this issue, try to follow up there to see if some solution comes up (comment 39): https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1178921#c39
If you don't mind installing VLC player, I think he said it's working with VLC plugin for Firefox (which is automatically installed while installing the player). I also have VLC player, but it worked without it too (after I uninstalled K-lite codec pack). http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
When I had K-lite codec pack, I think the main issue was the Codec Tweak Tool they provided, perhaps you can find one to download and try to change some settings there? or maybe even install K-lite codec pack and uninstall it (maybe it will change back some settings).
Don't know what else to suggest, perhaps someone else will have a better insight.

I have VLC player. Just installed K Lite and uninstalled. Changed settings on Tweak Tool. And still not playing videos. I will follow comments on link you suggested thanks .

This was happening to me and I honestly have no clue how I fixed it. :/ It's been going on for about a week now. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox to no avail. After finding this thread, I went looking for codecs. I had no codecs installed except for XVid, which I uninstalled just in case. Flash and everything else was updated. I downloaded VLC, but it said it couldn't install due to an error. Facebook videos are all of a sudden playing.
Still not working for me, just to update.

I spoke too soon. This was a short term fix apparently. I shut down my laptop and left for about 4 hours, now the videos aren't working again. -_-
marked this unsolved for you guys, although philipp's answer solved it for me
