Cannot Print: Missing "print_printer" in Config

more options

I can't print to my HP Deskjet 3940 from Thunderbird.

This situation has been going on for the last few versions on TB. I'm currently using version 45. I looked at a number of posts, and they suggested resetting the entry for "print.print_printer" in the Config file. Unfortunately, there is no listing for anything called "print_printer" or the longer name in the Config file. This is probably why "Print Preview" doesn't work either.

How should I fix this printing problem? Is there a way to manually add my printer to the TB "config" file?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Forgot to mention that I'm currently running Windows 10.

Yes, I can print from all other applications without any problems. It's only Thunderbird that I can't print from.

I looked at how Thunderbird is set up on my Ubuntu partition. I can print from that OS.

I then added the same string via the Thunderbird Config Editor on Windows 10: print_printer user set string Deskjet-3900

Still not able to print. Any suggestions?

See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1118591?utm_campaign=questions-reply&utm_medium=email&utm_source=notification Might the Windows 10 bug mentioned be the answer?

Could be a related problem. I may have to fire up Microsoft Outlook 2013 if I want to print.
