I can see how you can limit the disk space usage in Firefox's cache (in Mb), but not how you limit the number of files (inodes). In networked file systems quota limits set the maximum number of files (inodes) a user has as well as total disk usage - in my case 10Gb disk space and 80,000 files.

Unfortunately Firefox caches many very small files such that I go over my file quota without reaching anywhere near my Firefox cache size.

Is there a way of limiting the number of files Firefox creates, or failing that, turning of Firefox cache entirely (maybe setting cache size to 0Mb)?

hi, i think you only could disable the disk cache generally in this situation: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.cache.disk.enable. double-click it and change its value to false.
