reminders wont dismiss
My computer recently quit on me; thankfully, I had taken backups. I got a new computer and installed Thunderbird (and Lightning) on it, then restored my data from my previous computer. All worked well except that now I am getting reminders for events that occurred in the past (and normal reminders) that it will not allow me to dismiss. I click the dismiss button, but nothing happens most of the time. Occasionally, I get a message that indicates the event has been changed on the server. In that case, I have tried both telling Lightning to force the change to the server and to download the change from the server. Neither seems to work, and my list of events to dismiss is only getting larger. How do I make this stop???

how can I confirm which way I am using?
From the way you set it up. Using the calendar add-on, you only need to supply your user ID and Password. Using CalDAV you also need the Google Calendar URL. You can check the URL when you right-click the calendar - Properties.
It sometimes help if you delete the Google calendar in Lightning. Then restart Thunderbird, and recreate the calendar.

Local or network calendar? Is the calendar write-protected?
they are network calendars; gmail calendars to be specific. the calendars are not write protected that I know of; ...I've been able to add items from thunderbird onto the calendars, and they show up in the gmail web interface...
How do you access the Google Calendar? Via the Provider add-on or via CalDAV?
I access it via the provider add-on I think. The provider add on is definitely installed; how can I confirm which way I am using?

It turns out that I had things configured through the Provider. In order to resolve my issue, I had to unsubscribe from my calendars, then uninstall the provider add on, then restart, then reinstall the provider, and resubscribe to my calendars. Thanks for your help!
