The new update of Firefox won't allow me download an attachment from an email. I have reinstalled it and it still has a problem. It works in I.E.
My email provider is Comcast. Using the new updated version of Firefox, I am unable to download or open email attachments such as MS Word documents or Excel documents. I do not have this problem when using Internet Explorer or with previous version of Firefox. I reloaded Firefox and have the same problem.
It is claiming that there is a virus or malware. I have not changed or added any virus programs and I do not have this problem with Internet Explorer.

I determined the problem is with the McAfee firewall. I got a new Dell desktop in March and this came with it. This is the second issue I have had with McAfee and have since remove it and installed Norton which comes with my Xfinity account.
Removing McAfee made both of my problems go away.

Hi Dan, do you get a "virus or malware" message on the Downloads panel, as in the attached screenshot?
Firefox uses a list from Google's SafeBrowsing project to assess whether sites are currently distributing malware. Unfortunately, that can affect large sites as well as small, and there's no way to predict when it will be updated. (Firefox refreshes the list a few times a day, but first Google has to take Comcast's email attachment server off the list.)
For now, you may need to override the warning using the right-click context menu, as described in this article: How does built-in Phishing and Malware Protection work?
