When I open some websites (especially social media websites such as Facebook)) they open in a window on the left quarter of the screen. I cannot find any way to get this to open in a full width screen. This problem does not happen to the majority of websites but those that it happens to it always happens.

Sounds like those webpages might be opening in the Sidebar.

If you are opening those from a Bookmark, right-click each of those bookmarks and open Properties. Uncheck Load this bookmark in the sidebar.
