'it stopped working' means what exactly?
hen I click on get messages, I can no longer download messages. I can send messages fine, just can't download them.
I went through all the settings with my provider (Cox) and they verified that the settings are good.
It stopped working on 09 Dec.
I just downloaded the latest version of Thunderbird, 45.6.0 and it still does not work.
I thought it was an issue with Cox, but when I send messages to myself they come into COX webmail, but not to Thunderbird. Sending works, but not receiving.
When I click on get messages, it says it is connected.
Is there a limit to how many messages you can have in your inbox? I have 3333, 1520 unread. Is there a limit of how many messages you can have on your hard drive?
is your account IMAP? Do you have an folder names with two words in them like "deleted Items"
No. My server type is POP Mail Server. server name is pop.cox.net
Main folder names are all single words:
Inbox, draft, trash, etc.
Only one with two names is McAfee Anti-Spam
In my local folders on my computer I have lots of two or even three word names.
My issue started 12/31/16. Thunderbird auto updated to 45.6.0. After a restart, I can't send or receive emails through excite.com but I had no problems on the day before. I can see no difference in my settings.....Incoming server Pop3.excite.com port 110, Out server SMTP.excite.com port 587. Is there a way to back up to earlier version? (I don't know what version I was on before)

APerrone,
please start a new topic for your problem. https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new
I ended up uninstalling McAfee and using Windows defender. Although McAfee had worked well for the last 5 years, they gooned something so that I could not get Thunderbird to work. After deleting McAfee, I uninstalled Thunderbird and then turned on the Microsoft defender, then reinstalled Thunderbird, and now it works.
