A few weeks ago Firefox suddenly stopped being able to save new tags when bookmarking. The "tags" list on the bookmark this site menu is blank, and when I write in a new tag, it never shows up in the bookmarks library. All of my previous tags are still there.

PLEASE help me solve this problem! I have started Firefox in Safe Mode and done a complete Refresh, and the problem still persists.

Please : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 58.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Hi, thank you very much for the response!

I'm running Mac OS High Sierra. Is there an equivalent disk cleanup utility?

Hi, ya forgot to add am not a mac person and no idea where the folders are. No cleanup program. Search and delete all Mozilla folders after you have saved bookmarks and Profile. or Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.

then

TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:

If is your Profile :

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions. Everything is toasted out.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

If you use Sync then try to disconnect Sync temporarily.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

See also:

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite files Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
