Why can't I update Firefox?

more options

I went to 'About'and was told I am on version 41. I pressed the button to search for updates but was told none were available... I believe the latest version is at least 59, so why can't I get it? I'm running Android Lollipop (5.2 or maybe 5.3).

Firefox no longer appears in Google Play Store; in either Updates, Installed or Library.

Firefox 60 should run on Android 4.1 and higher, so I don't know why you can't see it in Google Play.

Can you see Firefox Beta in the Play store?

If you can see Firefox and/or Firefox Beta as a new install but not in your Installed apps, is it possible you side-loaded it??

I can see 'Firefox for Android Beta' as available in the Playstore.

I searched for 'Firefox', too, and it came up with an Uninstall button, so I guess the Playstore does recognise it in this way.

I have had Firefox installed for a few years now and I didn't side-load it.

The option did come up to update it a while back. Although I'm a bit surprised that upon checking I found v.41 is about 2 & a half years old! I'm sure I've seen Firefox appear in the Updates list several months ago, though I can't remember if it was successful.

Hia,

If I can't solve this problem here, does anyone know how I could contact Mozilla about this? Or if there is any other course of action that might help?

Thanks, Stephen

I think if you remove Firefox completely and install it again, you will get the new version. However, that probably would erase your data (bookmarks, cache, cookies, etc.). If you are not using Firefox Sync, it wouldn't be restored.
