Hello,

My situation is bad as I lost a year worth's emails. Fortunately, as I checked, I found the Inbox files in the profile folder and it has the approximate size of what my emails should be: 5GB.

I have tried restoring the local Thunderbird account with the file but it doesn't seems to work as I can't see any emails in the new folder I created and import the mbox file into.

Can anyone advise what could be possible points of failure that I can try to work around?

Also, if anyone has been able to open and view such a large file on mac, could you please advise how to go about it?

Thank you.

You'd need to explain that in more detail.

Inbox files? Do you have multiple Inbox files?

Are you compacting folders on a regular basis, either automatically, or manually?

There is no such thing as a Thunderbird account. Therefore, what are you talking about - the built-in 'Local Folders' account? If so, why would 'Local Folders' need to be restored? What exactly did you do?

Also, if anyone has been able to open and view such a large file on mac, could you please advise how to go about it?

Not using a Mac here, so I don't know. Aren't there any decent text editors available for Mac?
