I have tried to follow the instructions for making Firefox my default browser but every time I start Firefox I am told it is not my default browser - I attempt to set the default again with the same result. Keith Jones

That is controlled by the O/S otherwise your security software is preventing the switch. If the box is checked and still not working then ff install or O/S got corrupted to not change correctly.
