How do I prevent Firefox from updating?
Our university has told us not to update Firefox as it breaks an administrative system I use. I wanted to check my version, but Firefox automatically downloaded the undesired update and is now saying to restart to update. So, if I quit Firefox I can't use the admin software. There IS NO CANCEL BUTTON!!! I can't find anything in preferences to disable automatic update.
How do I prevent this update from taking place now that it is downloaded?

Thanks again. I'll close this off, and if the admin interface breaks just use another browser until it is resolved.

How do you completely turn off update checks in Firefox 64? You can use a policies.json file to disable updates for all users. https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md
Thanks, I appreciate the effort to help. That is heavy artillery for a simple task: was expecting some switch in the UI for users who can't deal with retrieving code from github. And, aren't config files read at startup? If so, given that my Firefox instance is already running it won't keep the update from completing.
The choice to update used to be in the browser. But some _______ (fill in the blank) removed it.

Hmmm... support site only has "Solved This Problem" buttons. I want "Did not solve but never mind" button. :-)
