Logins don't sync with my android device. How do I recover logins using sync?

I did a refresh of Firefox on my laptop (Windows) and all my logins disappeared. I tried moving key4.db and logins.json files as mentioned on the board from other folders on my laptop but the saved logins list resets to empty. That is no longer an option.

I am using sync with an android device which still has all the logins saved. Sync, however doesn't update my laptop to sync the devices. I really want these passwords back and could use some advice on hot to do that. I'm not sure why sync doesn't sync the two devices and yes I have synced both devices.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

If you read my request you would have seen that I attempted to move Old Firefox files into the current profile, which did not work.

I have all the logins/passwords on my phone. It would be great if sync actually synced up my browser on my laptop with the phone as it seems to state it is supposed to do.

The only reliable source for this I currently have is on my phone. How do I update my browser on my laptop?

If you hook your cell to the computer, will you have access to its files? If so, you could try to copy the password files.

If this doesn't work, It's the hard way.

Cancel your current sync.

Using your cell, create a new sync account. Give it time yo sync to the servers. Once you are sure this was done, then log the PC into the new sync.

Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.{web link} I use an add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.

Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.

If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.

Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.

FredMcD - thanks for the response. I've tried to locate those files on my phone but wasn't able. Any clues where I might look? It deson't appear that Mozilla is sharing that information on how to locate the Key4.db or Logins.json on an android device.

Did you check the content of the logins.json file to see whether it contains for logins?

Firefox was closed when you copied the logins.json and key4.db files to the current profile folder in "AppData\Roaming"?

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:preferences page.
