Missing Profile
FireFox ... are you kidding me .... "Missing Profile" .... this is so stupid, all I did was update my preferences now I can not open the application ... what !!!!!!!!!!!! ... and now I have to navigate to some stupid file folder .... NO ... You navigate to some stupid file folder and you overwrite, that's what you[FireFox] does. Give me break .... so what if I changed some stupid name ... of which I have not idea what name I changed ... if your software is so smart to know something is missing then you default to a default setting, you just don't send me into a stupid message box then close the application .... so stupid ...
Just a suggestion, when someone is installing your Browser ... you install everthing, evidently your software ignored the init file since it was already there .... so stupid ... I'm not solving this stupid issues, this is design failure.
I was already to leave Safari .... Hahahahaha .... good luck FireFox.
Missing profile give me a break !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly, sorry to see that you are having this issue. On the bright side of things, this type of problem doesn't normally mean that your data is gone, just that the file that stores the locations of your Firefox profile folder has been damaged (potentially by an external program or maybe even Firefox itself).
The first thing that we need to determine is whether or not your Firefox profile folder is still on your computer. Navigate to the Profile folder on your computer and see if you still have a folder in there.
If you do, that means that your data is likely all recoverable. Let us know.
Sorry I am not doing any of that ... I've stated that I've attempted to download and re-install FireFox ... completely. I dragged FireFox into the trash I'm on a mac and I re-download the FireFox program ( big green button ) and installed ... but to my horror I am still unable to open FireFox ... why ... my Profile is missing ... WHAT !!!!!! STILL ... ??? all I want to do is use FireFox ... I liked your file sharing feature similar to "WeTransfer" that was the whole point of me making the decision to finally leave Safari and I liked your privacy with regards to the internet ...having a profile is of no concern to me ... only to those who want to remember stuff ... I store no web pages, no passwords .... nothing ... so my question remains ... your application should never NOT OPEN .... all I did was update the profile to allow developement feeds one check box and deselected all other ( everything else ) and it was you not me that killed the profile folder not me but you!!!!!
Suggestion ... give ME the option to re-install FireFox compeletely ... YOU delete all relative file folder ... I'm not ... you ... not me!!!!
Who cares about profiles ...
Good luck gals ....
To clarify, the Firefox profile is the folder that contains all of your Firefox data. Regardless of whether or not you plan on saving data in Firefox, this profile folder is essential or Firefox will not run. It contains a whole collection of settings and information that Firefox requires to operate.
Firefox is specifically designed so that your Firefox profile is not deleted when you uninstall Firefox, which is why uninstalling didn't work for you. This is so that people can reinstall Firefox or change to a different Firefox version without losing their bookmarks, passwords, history, etc.
If you simply want to create a new blank profile, you can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.
Hope this helps.
That is great I get it ... but that is not your decision to make ... My question stil remains ... FireFox should never NOT OPEN !!!!!
You need a default setting what sound like to me ...
This is retarded ... give me to option whether or not to hold or overwrite FireFox setting ... if someone needs to reinstall ...
What is wrong with you guys ... sounds like a PC mindset ... :-(
When I cick on that stupid green button and then drag FireFox over the Application folder I should see a message ... FireFox already installed, hold or clear all relavent files and folders or overwrite ? ... I always when available select "Overwrite" and install ...
So again, FireFox should never NOT OPEN ... that is the real elephan in the room :-) for sure :-(
Sounds like a design flaw to me ... good luck gals.
Send a an alert when I can re-install Firefox from scatch ...
Good day ...
I've already provided you with information to fix your problem (which is the way to essentially overwrite your old data). If you are unwilling to do what I suggested in my previous reply, there's nothing more I (or anyone else) can do for you here.

If you want to run Firefox without tracking down your old profile data, you can use Terminal (MacOS is based on Unix) to call up Firefox's profile manager and create a new profile for yourself:
