Message filters are garbage and don't work right, when is this gonna get fixed?
@Mozzilathunderbird:
Why don't your filters work right? Don't you want a product people are confident in? A product that does as it says?
I can't believe how screwed up the filters are.
I HAVE NO FILTERS setup in any IMAP accounts. ONLY THUNDERBIRD!
But I still get messages sent to the wrong subfolder.
I created a NEW subfolder for an account, not a Sub - Sub folder, a NEW one straight under the Inbox.
I created a NEW filter. All filters set to "From, IS", not "contains" or anything else. Very specific, very concise.
Day 1 of the filter and it sends me an email (and all future) that was already set up to go to a DIFFERENT Sub-folder from a completely different email address inbox. Now I get more messages, that aren't in the filter going to the sub-folder.
What is this crap?
Do you Mozzilla folks even care to make this work?
Don't bother responding to this unless you are a Dev that works for Mozilla.

I have no idea what your issue is. I have dozens of filter that work like clockwork. So filter work. however that does not say yours do. but why they are failing is most likely not a software issue with Thunderbird.
Note this part very well. Developers will not ever be found in support forum looking for people having issues. Generally developers are not suited to dealing with the general public. They tend to speak a different language to most users.
So now you have all the venom off your chest, if your interested in working out what is going wrong, please post an image of the filter window showing the filter you say it not working. As my filter contain all the elements you mention I can not guess what is happening.
The two most common errors are to create the filter on the wrong account, the second is to filter IMAP mail that has not been downloaded yet.
There is a support article on filters here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/organize-your-messages-using-filters
I have ~150 filters (some quite complex) in just one account - no problems.
