I am tired of outlook and yahoo and decided to get a new email (while keeping my gmail). I downloaded Thunderbird, and set up my gmail, thinking I could add a new free email later. But I don't see how to do that. I tried to start over, but when I uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird, it is reinstalled formatted as it was before I uninstalled it. What can I do to add (or replace gmail with) a new free email account?

Set up the extra accounts with the mail provider, then add them to TB starting from File/New/Existing Mail Account. Press Alt if the Menu Bar with File is hidden.
