Deleting an address from the drop down address bar.
This does not work and hasn't for a while.
"Clearing a single item from the address bar history
To clear a single item in the address bar history, type or paste enough text for Firefox to show the item in the drop-down.
Press the ↓ down arrow key or move the mouse, to highlight the browsing or Search history entry to delete. To clear the highlighted item, hold down the Shift key and press Delete on your keyboard."
Surely there must be a simple way to do this?

What icon is in front of the item you try to remove ?
Is there a pin or star or other icon attached to it ?
An item with a pin is a pinned top site and needs to be removed from this page.
It does however just put new sites in their place in the address bar when I actually want nothing there, but thanks for your help. It's a shame there isn't a delete option any more.
You can disable showing top sites as a suggestion.
The location bar drop-down list can show history items, bookmarked pages, pages opened in tabs, top sites, and search suggestions. You can set what suggestions show when you enter an URL in the location/address bar bar.
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Address Bar: When using the location bar, suggest:
History
Bookmarks
Open tabs
Top sites - Options/Preferences -> Search -> Search Suggestions
Okay, thanks.
