I suddenly can't send email from Thunderbird (I was able to receive on start up but can no longer). Thunderbird says my inbound password is wrong (maybe, but I write them down with great care), and i have searched and searched for a way to correct and cannot find one.

what mail provider? A number of big providers in the USA have changed the required user setting in the past few weeks.
