Censorship of Newsmax

more options

Firefox returns a "Secure Connection Failed" after some (?) time browsing Nesmax articles. After receiving the message, the NEWSMAX website is inaccessible via Firefox. It is clearly not a security issue because I can clear my Firefox history and access Newsmax and the specific article that was specified as insecure. From all appearances, Firefox is censoring Newsmax. WHY?

Firefox doesn't censor sites if the sites security or certificate doesn't check with the basic Firefox browser security or if it doesn't like the security checks for Firefox then it can deny it without cause as well. So could be failure of certificate or the site deems the Browser not secure enough to accept the login or user is blocking cookies causing the access connection failure as well.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click "Refresh Firefox" in the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Reboot the computer into Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.
